When the congregation's wins seem to increase in direct proportion to the heating up of the romance between the rabbi and Dawn Nakazawa, who is writing a series of articles about him for the trashy L.A. Eye , the flames of superstition are fanned by a zealot convinced that these events hail the impending arrival of the Messiah. Bloom is hauled before a rabbinal tribunal, and the community is divided over the issue of a rabbi having an affair with a gentile woman.
