Prolific celebrity chronicler King has already churned out biographies of talk-show titans Oprah Winfrey, Phil Donahue, and David Letterman, so why not a book devoted to the ABC morning chat team? About half of the book is put together from interviews with the stars and their families. The rest seems to have resulted from a Lexis-Nexis search designed to unearth every last word published on its subjects' careers: an entire chapter charts the duos' various workout tapes, while another details Kathie Lee's various business ventures. We learn that Kathie Lee came close to quitting the show after her moral objection to an appearence by Studs host Mark DeCarlo was overruled by show producer and foil Michael Gelman and that, on another show, the team had "precancerous moles excised from their skins on air by a dermatologist." If there is a fan of the show who has not heard enough about Kathie Lee's husband, Frank, and son, Cody, or Regis's mother-in-law, Ethel, this book may be a godsend, but most readers will probably miss the point of a joint "tell-all" about two people who earn their living telling it all. Not recommended. [A review of Regis's I'm Only One Man, will appear in a forthcoming issue.?Ed.]?Adam Mazmanian, "Library Journal.
