The subtitle hints at more than this book delivers. In fact, despite the subject (the sex life of baby boomers), it's slow reading. Bakos (What Men Really Want), a popular sex writer, bases her study on dozens of interviews and hundreds of responses to her 25-item questionnaire. Considering that there are 77 million boomers, her results come from a very small slice of the population: she admits that 112 responses came from St. Louis county alone and that the respondents are disproportionately white, middle-class professionals, 60 percent women and largely heterosexual. Each chapter recounts personal stories of sexual encounters; the endless small print is broken up with boxes offering wordy survey results, Boomer Sex Tips, "sound bites" of overheard conversation, and quotes from Sixties songs. Still Sexy is neither a textbook on the sexual practices of the baby boomer nor a stimulating read; although the title may attract public library patrons, they will put it down as quickly as they pick it up.ASusan E.
