The aim of this book is to establish the rationality of suicide as sometimes the wisest course of action for those advanced in age, and as not necessarily an irrational or dishonorable act. The author endorses elective suicide in advanced age prior to terminal conditions and offers five criteria for assessing the rationality of preemptive suicide. The objective is to enable consideration of suicide as an elective choice, rather than as always the most drastic of responses to disastrous circumstances.
