The student first prepares materials in an exercise book and then goes to the computer to do the exercise. All of the information necessary to prepare for a computer exercise is contained in the book. No exercise is a prerequisite for another. The exercises seek to present challenges and questions instead of leading students through an error-free educational experience. Although the exercises eventually evaluate student answers, they sometimes hold back immediate feedback in favor of development of a line of questions. Each exercise has specific goals.
