Real Philadelphia lawyer Solmssen spotlighted fictional Philadelphia lawyer Graham Anders in his 1971 novel Alexander's Feast. The love-stricken young protagonist is now a love-stricken 50-year-old senior partner, risking a successful career and marriage for the sake of an obsessional affair. Such middle-age craziness does not sit well with his affluent wife, of course, and she vents her bitterness by threatening to sell her controlling stock to a rival firm. Anders's efforts to prevent a corporate takeover without jeopardizing his multiple romantic interests take him to Wall Street and around Europe, where he uncovers an old scandal.
