Reading Faster and Understanding More is a reading skills workbook that recognizes the inseparable links between comprehension, vocabulary and reading rate. Each chapter contains the same theme or topic for both the practice paragraphs and longer readings-facilitating reading comprehension and related writing and speaking activities. Includes a comprehensive "Vocabulary Preview" in each chapter as well as "Word Attack" lessons and instruction on how to use a dictionary at the end of the book. Added to the end of each chapter, mastery tests quiz readers on their vocabulary and comprehension of the skills taught in each chapter. Each chapter begins with a unit titled "How to Understand More" followed by a unit titled "How to Read Faster." The Appendix now includes an answer key for all exercises and new progress charts so readers can monitor their reading skills and progress. Each chapter includes a list of objectives and follow-up reviews (mastery tests in comprehension and vocabulary). For those seeking to improve their reading skills at the 9-12th grade level.
