About the Author

Ming Zuo

Dr. Ming J. Zuo received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from Shandong Institute of Technology, China, and a Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, both from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA. He is currently Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. His research interests include system reliability analysis, maintenance modelling and optimization, signal processing, and fault diagnosis. The courses he has been teaching include engineering economics, reliability engineering, maintenance management, and optimization methods.

 

Ron Pelot

Dr. Ronald Pelot is a Professional Engineer and Professor of Industrial Engineering. He has taught Engineering Economics for over 20 years, bringing a great deal of practical and pedagogical experience as a co-author on this textbook. He also teaches operations research, decision and risk analysis, and industrial psychology, receiving the Daltech Award for Teaching Excellence in 1998. His principal area of research is in risk analysis, applied to a wide range of fields including maritime safety, maritime security, coastal zone management, critical infrastructure protection, environmental risks, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. These studies in turn have led to work on improving strategic and operational decision making, and in particular on optimal resource allocation.
