Young commercial artist Michael Sayers is hurrying to Waterloo Station to meet his sister and his fiancee for a Christmas visit home. When a passing car nearly hits him, he exchanges angry words with its Irish occupant. Minutes later an IRA bomb explodes in the crowded station, badly wounding Sayers and killing the two girls. Michael must recover physically and psychologically from this trauma. But he also has another serious problem: the IRA has secretly marked him as an eyewitness.
