About the Author:
Iurii Shcherbak graduated from the Kyiv Medical Institute and worked at the the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases until 1987. He is the author of nine novels, including As in Wartime (1966) and Reasons and Results (1987). He founded the Green World Ukrainian Environmental Association in Kyiv (1987) and served as Ukraine's ambassador to Canada, Israel, Mexico, and the USA.
