Synopsis
This book provides a concise practical guide to designing and building a simple database. It provides step-by-step instructions to enable the reader to analyse a current working system and design a relational database to support that system, using techniques such as Data Flow Diagrams, Entity-relationship Diagrams and Normalisation. The book then provides clear instructions on how to use the basic and most useful features of Microsoft Access (the most commonly used system) to complete the new working system.

About the Author
HELEN HOLDING spent many years in industry designing and testing new computer systems. These have included a Telephone Billing system, a Centralised Group Pensions system, a Library Control system for BBC Radio and Manufacturing systems. In 1996, she moved into Further Education, working for De Montfort University and Buckingham University, teaching Systems Design Methodologies and Information Systems Development. She is also co-author of Mastering Microsoft Office.
