About the Author

Phil Race has spent much of the last 30 years helping students to maximise their potential. Originally a scientist, he progressively developed a keen interest in the processes of teaching, learning and asessment. He is author or co-author of a wide range of books and articles in these areas. He is Emeritus Professor of Educational Development of the University of Glamorgan, and now works part-time as Course Director of the University of Durham Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, spending the rest of his time travelling throughout the UK and New Zealand leading staff-development workshops for lecturers, and study-skills development sessions for their students.

Review

"...at the digestible end of the spectrum of academic style and language - the 11 chapters all stand alone in their own right and are easy to dip into, but they also work well together as a collection." - ROOF
