Preparing to Teach in Secondary Schools is key reading for all trainee secondary school teachers. It covers the range of core professional skills that student teachers need to acquire irrespective of their subject specialism or their training route. About the Author:
Val Brooks is a lecturer in the Institute of Education at Warwick University where she co-ordinates the Flexible Initial Teacher Training course. She also contributes to PGCE and GTP training programmes.
Ian Abbott is a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Education at Warwick University and Programme Director for the MA in Educational Studies. He formerly co-ordinated the Economics and Business Studies PGCE.
Liz Bills directs the Secondary PGCE course at Warwick University and has led the team that re-designed and implemented the core professional studies element of this course.
