Reviews

Grade 7-12 Unexpectedly, Kate is invited to visit the Vermonts, a warm, friendly family which served as a haven during her own supposedly unhappy childhood. (What made it so unhappy is never made clear.) Although out of touch with the family during the past two years, she is immediately welcomed and made a part of their lives again. Although the story has its ups and downsromantic entanglements, a near drowning, a breach with her sistereverything is handled so superficially that it's hard to get involved. Solutions come so easily that there's little resemblance to real life. Briticisms are not always used in clear enough context, and some of the terms will be lost on American readers. Teenage girls, unless they're after very light reading, will much prefer Danielle Steel's novels. Connie Weber, Bishop Dwenger High School Library, Ft. Wayne, Ind.
