The volume has been revised and updated to include new developments in the theatre and information on how directors work, how they create a production and how they perceive the actors in their roles. There is also a section on the criticisms that are made of directors' theatre and designers' theatre. The book will be of interest not only to the general theatre-going public, but also to students of drama.
