Synopsis
The book introduces different aspects of Islam, such as the mosque, prayer, Muhamrad, Ramadian, scripture and pilgrimage. It also addresses topics such as the growth of Islam and growing up in Islam, making the book up-to-date and accessible to young people. Each chapter is supported by a question section which allows pupils to develop their coursework and exam technique. In addition there are numbered sub-sections at the end of the book, providing material for higher ability students to use for further research and development of ideas.

About the Author
Jan Thompson began her career as a Religious Education teacher in secondary schools, and is now an advisor and governmental inspector for religious education.

The chapters that follow explain the history and traditions of Islam as well as the practices and values of Muslims today, including issues such as adultery, women's rights, contraception, and militants. Many visual and verbal references to Muslims in England indicate a British origin, but the book's focus is worldwide, and the appended list of organizations includes only those in North America.
