A manual of advice and guidance for students in the practical aspects of A or AS Level physics. It is divided into three areas and is designed to draw on and expand the knowledge gained in class towards practical investigations. The first section highlights key skill areas for practical investigations which students often find difficult to grasp: mathematics, the use of scientific instruments and using IT. The second section gives investigations grouped into the main A Level physics topics. The theory is revised for each theme and investigations are presented in a structures and progressive manner so that guidance is gradually reduced and students are encouraged to think for themselves. The final part consists of open-ended investigations that require the student to undertake detailed planning.
