Synopsis
River Processes deals primarily with flow and sediment dynamics in alluvial channels. This textbook provides a useful reference and is suitable for advanced-level courses. The synthesis of recent literature presented here provides an opportunity for those already working in the field to consider how fluvial geomorphology has moved forward in the past 20 years.

River Processes is up to date and well referenced. Students will find that this book provides sound explanations of the principles of river dynamics. It is refreshing accessible in style; and the necessary jargon and equations do no detract from this. In summary, Andre Robert is to be commended on producing a textbook that seems certain to be widely used - it is certain to become a staple of undergraduate reading lists for the next decade.
