The author: Sandra grew up in Crowborough in East Sussex, amidst downland, small farms and hop gardens. Her Birmingham grandfather and Sussex great-grandmother were wonderful story-tellers, and Sandra began to follow in their footsteps while still at school, when she had stories and poems published in 'Young Elizabethan'. Sandra now has three adult children, and lives with her husband in Southampton. She is a lecturer at Southampton Univeristy.The illustrator: Karen is a highly successful fine artist and muralist - now embarking on a career in children's books. She lives in North London with her husband and two teenage sons.
