Story by Kes Gray, Illustrated by Mary McQuillan
Whoever first coined the phrase about owls being wise never met Twoo Twit. All the other animals laugh at this young owl's silly mistakes, but poor Twoo Twit just keeps on making them. Every night, Mother Owl packs a sandwich for him, then sends him off to night school. But Twoo Twit wanders here and there, finds games to play, or simply perches at a comfortable place where he can enjoy being lazy. He never makes it to school. But one night, Twoo Twit perches on a church steeple. Suddenly, the bell starts ringing, loud and long, shaking and shocking Twoo Twit to the roots of his feathers. Maybe it's time for him to wise up and start acting like a proper owl.
