This is a fully complete bound extract from the Annual Report of the Chief of Engineers, detailing the work of Wheeler and his assistants in surveying the geography and natural history of the west. Besides geographical pursuits, aspects of the report consider geology, botany, ethnology and ornithology. Other important chapters describe rocks and minerals (turquoise, garnets, etc. ) in southern Colorado and New Mexico, birds of Arizona, and Native American ruins in New Mexico.
