Synopsis
The Down and Dirty Delta
In the hellzones of Vietnam, his job is to search and destroy on land and under water. In less than a year, thus Naval Special Forces soldier will learn the brutal ways of hand-to-hand guerilla combat in the jungles and swamps of the Mekong Delta. He will become a leader of men and later be forced by his wounds to let others face that challenge. He will fight desperately to stay alive and sane in a war that no one can explain so he can return to an America that doesn't understand.
The Facts Behind the Fiction
James R. Reeves wrote this authentic, gripping novel about the experiences of his friend, James C. Taylor, a former SEAL. Mekong! is based on Taylor's story, as told to Reeves in many conversations and taped interviews. Taylor's nightmares and flashbacks have been greatly reduced by the telling of this story.
