I first read Crazy in Alabama when I was buying books for audio, and I thought it was one of the most entertaining, witty, imaginative novels I've ever read. The main character Lucille is a true original--and yes, she does remind one of that other famous Lucille-- Lucille Ball. As a matter of fact, Lucille
Ball is a character in the book. This is a little bit Thelma and Louise (but in a kinder, sweeter way), a llittle bit Eudora Welty and Flannery O'Connor meet Truman Capote. I can't wait to see the movie!
