Miller's POSITIVE CHILD GUIDANCE, 9th Edition, is ideal for child guidance, discipline, behavior management and classroom management courses in an early childhood education curriculum. It outlines workable steps for creating a cooperative, respectful community of children and adults with special emphasis on sensitivity to cultural needs, differences, social justice and developmentally appropriate practice. Students learn a range of practical, effective and flexible guidance strategies based on principles of straightforward communication, respect and assertiveness. Updated with critical advances in research and new NAEYC standards, the 9th Edition addresses cultural trends that are changing the way children from birth to 12 are cared for and educated in today's homes and schools. What Do You Think boxes sharpen critical thinking skills, and Brain Facts boxes highlight current neurological findings.
