About the Author

Eduardo Guy Perpétuo Bock is Associate Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Bioengineering and Biomaterials at the Department of Mechanics in Federal Institute of Sćo Paulo since 2007. He is Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering by University Sćo Judas Tadeu, Masters and PhD in Mechanical Engineering by State University of Campinas. He worked as Field Engineer in Angel Medical Systems in Shrewsbury, New Jersey; Assistant Professor in FAAP, Sćo Paulo; and Project Intern in Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He has filed the patent “Implantable equipment for temporary life support of patients waiting for heart transplantation”. In addition, he had published 3 books, 14 chapters and 44 papers in scientific journals with 427 citations. He has experience in the field of Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering, with emphasis on Bioengineering acting mainly on the following themes: Biomaterials, Tribology, Numerical Simulation, Control Systems, Artificial Organs, Artificial Heart, Ventricular Assist Devices and Mechanical Circulatory Support.
