The animal performers in a circus have many adventures

This is a close-up of superstar Placido Domingo from June 1981, when he performed in Tosca in New York's Central Park, to a Vienna Carmen in January 1984. In between are views of Otello (Bregenz), Ernani (La Scala), Manon Lescaut (Covent Garden), and Tosca (Liceo), as well as BBC specials, popular songs, films, conducting of Die Fledermaus , and a host of recording sessions. Snowman is an excellent journalist. He writes with color and flair, leaving the reader almost out-of-breath just reading about Domingo's whirlwind life. The author avoids critical judgment but gives a substantial sampling of criticism by others. Heartily recommended, particularly for public libraries. William Shank, CUNY Grad. Sch. Lib.
