The Yanko-Sequor.: A Work In Two Books, Independent Of Each Other. Book II. Disquisitions Upon The Ways To Arrive At The Demonetization Of Gold And Silver, And Upon The Establishment Of Private Banks Under The Control Of A National Government by M. R. Pilon. This volume presents a pioneering economic argument advocating demonetization of gold and silver and proposing a private banking system under government supervision. The author contends that money should be a measuring tool rather than a commodity, and that base metals, particularly iron, can be elaborately crafted into coins whose value is sustained by labor rather than scarcity. The book explores the history and cost of precious metals, critiques the extant monetary system, and outlines a program for substituting iron or other base metals for coins, with coins decorated by skilled handwork to deter counterfeiting. It argues for a domestic currency that avoids inflation by tying currency value to labor and production, and outlines a framework for modern banking with government-backed notes.
