Synopsis
The Cambrian Journal. The Cambrian Journal is a nineteenth-century Welsh antiquarian periodical published in Tenby by the Cambrian Institute. This issue presents a collection of scholarly articles and notes focused on Wales’ past, including archaeology, architecture, language, and literature, with prefatory remarks and biographical material. Contents reflect Welsh antiquities, local Pembrokeshire studies, and the broader project of promoting Welsh national identity, language, and history. The volume includes prefatory discourse on Welsh literature, archaeological memoranda, historical vignettes such as the Glanaraeth murder, poems on Welsh landscape and history, biographical sketches (notably of Ab Ithel), discussions on Welsh MSS in France, the concept of a Welsh university, and translations from Welsh sources.
