Synopsis

Harlequin Historical: A woman alone, yet determined to follow her dying father's golden dream, Kerry Gallivan heeded the siren call of pioneering and set out on the sea of grass. But how was she to know that while she sailed her prairie schooner. Jeb Hunter would become captain of her fate? A man apart Wagon master for a Conestoga caravan west, Jeb Hunter held the lives of his people in his hands. . . and a guilty secret in his soul. Haunted by the past, he had no future- until Kerry Gallivan schemed her way onto his train, and into his heart!

Review

There was absolutely no way that Kerry Gallivan and her brother were not going to make it to California just as their father had planned. The disguise would just have to do, and Kerry would just have to hope the tough, high-handed wagon master would not see through it because the wagon train contract did not allow single women members. She would have to hope her appearance as a man would be convincing. Jeb Hunter didn't know what it was exactly that made him like the Gallivan brothers so much. Maybe it was their determination and courage. Then again, maybe he didn't like them so much, especially when he discovers that they have been lying to him. And not just about the wagon being overloaded! Kerry's secret is out of the bag, and Jeb promises that he will not allow the Gallivan's to continue on with the train. When the women of the wagon train unite against him, however, he begrudgingly allows them to stay. There are many reasons for Jeb to avoid Kerry, but many more for him to seek her out. Her warm smile and sparkling eyes make Jeb forget about his responsibilities. Her compassion for his aches and pains set him at ease in her arms. The world melts away for both of them whenever they touch. But then the anger flares again, and discord pushes them away from each other. Jeb allows his past to harden his heart, while Kerry's own heart centers only on accomplishing her father's ambition for freedom. Jeb Hunter's Bride is a new wagons west romance by Ana Seymour. The tension between characters is high and electrifying, and the realism of this California-bound excursion is blended well with the romantic play between a tortured Jeb Hunter and vibrant Kerry Gallivan. It's a shame that the outcome of the story is so blatantly given away in the title of the book.Characters that build beautifully around a high-tension romance! The wagon trails burn hot and cold with Kerry and Jeb! It's a treat to ride with them. Ana Seymour's West is spirited, determined, and courageous! A lovely story!
