Review:
Lacey McCandless and Birk Tallchief always had a special way of communicating with each other. Ever since Lacey was little, she'd looked up to Birk, and like all the other Tallchiefs, he'd looked after her and protected her. Now she is all grown up and the rules have changed. Birk no longer looks upon her as a little sister, but he is afraid Lacey doesn't want romance. Lacey begins to discover the change in Birk, and what is worse is the fire he ignites in her every time he looks in her direction. She isn't about to be one of his playmates like the others have been all over Tallchief Mountain. No, she'll humble him, and keep him humble, if it is the last thing she does. Then Birk throws down a challenge-- a challenge Lacey can't afford to ignore, especially with her monstrous mother coming for a visit. She'll take his challenge, but only on her terms, which just might humble Birk Tallchief after all. Birk knows what terrible things Lacy's mother has been up to, and he wants to protect Lacey. He knows she's accepted his challenge of marriage, but for all the wrong reasons. Yet he is confident he can tame her--for all the right reasons. Sooner or later she will see that she needs him as much as he needs her. His brothers have all taken wives, and some have started families of their own. In his family, there are legends and traditions that have to be upheld. He wants this high-spirited, passionate woman, and what a Tallchief wants, a Tallchief gets.Cait Logan has given us a whole mountain full of characters to love and linger over in out hearts long after the last page is read!
