Harry enjoys visiting his grandfather's farm and seeing the homes of all the animals, but in the end he is happy to return to his own home in the city where he lives with his mom. By the creators of The Big Book of Families.

Catherine and Laurence Anholt are the authors of numerous books for children, including The Big Book of Families. They live in Lyme Regis, England.
The Anholts are at their best in this picture book for preschoolers about the fear and the excitement of leaving home. The simple words and clear, detailed, line-and-watercolor illustrations tell a universal story. Harry loves the city, where he lives in an apartment with his mom. "He loved escalators and elevators. Shops and sirens. Big streets and little streets. Traffic lights and fire engines. He loved to see the people rushing to work in the morning and coming back to their homes in the evening." Then, for the first time ever, he leaves his mom and visits his grandfather on his small farm in the mountains across the sea. At first Harry misses home. The country is too dark, too quiet, too slow. "Everything was different." But then he helps in the farmyard, and he has such a good time with Grandpa and the animals, especially in caring for one baby lamb, that he almost forgets the city. Yet when Mom comes to get him after a week, Harry wants to return home. Of course, everything is only positive, but no matter where children who hear this story live, they will recognize their own discovery of differences and their own journeys home. The pleasure is in the loving particulars of place, the complexity of feelings, and the rhythm of the telling. Hazel Rochman
