ea. vol: unpaged. Silver Burdett. Sept. 1985. PS $4.31. Gr 3-5 Three mundane conglomerations of jokes, cartoons, rhymes and anecdotes that are neither scary nor amusing. The brightly colored cartoons are adequate but often cluttered; the jokes are tired (``I'm dying for a bite,'' utters a vampire, for probably the millionth time). Witches is the best of the bunch; it sports a slightly subtler sense of humor than the other two. Overall, the mediocre ``facts,'' jokes and rhymes, many of which are stretched beyond their limits just to fill up space, make these books unnecessary purchases. Try Schwartz's In a Dark, Dark Room (Harper, 1984), Gantos' The Werewolf Family (Houghton, 1980; o.p.) or Ahlberg's Funnybones (Greenwillow, 1981) for a better quality of ghouls and giggles.
