A crocodile and a sloth have a life-or-death race on the Amazon

PreSchool-Grade 2-Bright jungle flora and overly cute, grinning cartoon animals fill the pages of this uninspired story. Kapoc is intent on capturing one of the rain-forest animals for her lunch, but the "killer croc" is tricked into entering into a race down the Amazon by a slow but witty sloth. Repetitive phrases frequently appear, but it's doubtful that young listeners will be motivated to chime in. They will be better served by traditional trickster tales such as Paul Galdone's Monkey & the Crocodile (Clarion, 1987) or Janet Stevens's Coyote Steals the Blanket (Holiday, 1993).
