“This stunning commentary, coming thirty-five years after the original Anchor Bible Proverbs, simply towers over all other studies of Proverbs 1–9, and bodes well for the next volume. This commentary combines erudition with clarity, originality with the necessary dialogue with previous scholarship. The essays defining wisdom are masterful, sweeping away past misunderstandings.” —Roland E. Murphy, O. Carm.
