Kindergarten-Grade 2-- The old oak tree in Emily's garden is a source of many make-believe adventures for her and her brother. When a storm threatens, she makes a wish and the tree turns into a sailing ship that takes the children on a tumultuous voyage, almost to the end of the world. When they return safely from their fantastic outing, they discover that the tree has blown down. But there is a treasure that they bring back from their amazing trip: a golden acorn that will grow into another oak tree. The stylized ink and watercolor-washed illustrations portray the massive power of the tree, the storm, and the waves that toss the brave children's ship.
