A number of versions of this story are available, including Deborah Hautzig's retelling (Knopf, 1990) with Kaarina Kaila's illustrations; Tom Roberts's adaptation (Rabbit Ears, 1989), with illustrations by David Johnson; and James Riordan's retelling (Dial, 1979), with Susan Jeffers's pictures.
