About the Author
Mikel Dufrenne (1910 - 1995) was a French philosopher who taught at the University of Paris at Nanterre. Much of his work extended Merleau-Ponty's philosophical enterprise into a fully fledged aesthetic doctrine, applicable to all the arts, most notably painting.
