This hardcover first thus edition published in 1953 and bound in dark blue cloth with gold spine lettering, although the lettering has faded over time. The book is 393 pages long, in Good condition, and does not include a jacket. The covers display light surface wear, a split in the cloth at the head of the spine, fraying at the spine ends, and rubbing to the corners.The binding is square and firm, with hinges that remain intact and uncracked. The interior pages are clean and unmarked but have tanned with age. Sullivan approaches the personal interview as a specific instance of all interpersonal relations. He outlines what therapists need to know to build a successful relationship with a client.
