About the Author

Robert Boyd is Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has written extensively on evolutionary theory and on mathematical models of cultural evolution. Joan B. Silk, who has conducted extensive research on chimpanzee, baboon, and macaque behavior, is Professor of Anthropology and Chair of the department at the University of California, Los Angeles.
