Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Knopf, 1983, New York. Hard Cover. Book condition: Very Good. Dust jacket condition: Good. Stated "FIRST EDITION", assumed first printing due to the absence of a number line. Hardcover in unclipped dust jacket. 8-5/8" tall, 313 numbered pages includes "Notes" and "Index". This book is in very good condition: the exterior is square, very clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings with slight discoloring at the head and heel of the spine; front board has spotty discoloration from masking tape (more on this in a moment); hinges are strong. Except for an inked name/date/city on the back of the FFEP, the interior is perfectly clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and any sort of paper damage. Not remaindered, ex-library or Book Club edition. The dust jacket is reasonably clean and free of tears, scratches, scrapes, and fading. However, the jacket has masking tape on its back--along all edges, both fold and the entire width of the spine; this tape has slightly discolored the fore edge of the front board with spots and has made the jacket more stiff and less flexible, but has not caused any serious discoloration of the jacket. Jacket is now protected by mylar jacket. Dallek's theses: Unresolved political and social problems have caused our foreign policy to be erratic and unpredictable. But in a nuclear age, "we can not enjoy the luxury of indifference to fundamental shortcomings in the American style of foreign policy" (from the rear flap). Seller Inventory # BMR-2021-5-6-3
