She tells owners how to have a well dog. They must understand its anatomy, use preventive medicine to keep it healthy, be able to recognize signs of illness, treat emergencies, know how to breed, and select a veterinarian. Librarians who skipped Veterinary Notes for Dog Owners , edited by Trevor Turner ( LJ 10/1/91), should consider this a good choice to update or fill a gap in the collection.
