Reviews

Grade 1-3 Magic, humor, and an unusual and clever ending make Pretty Good Mag ic pretty good fun. The text hops along with the over-abundance of rabbits that Presto (``not a great magician . . .not a bad magician,'' but ``a pretty good magi cian'') has magically produced. Beginning readers will delight in the trouble that the rabbits and Presto get into in the quiet town of Forty Winks. The whimsical pen and watercolor illustrations, reminiscent of James Stevenson's work, add to the overall success of this book for emerging readers. Gale W. Sherman, Pocatello Public Library, Idaho
