One in the series of Stepping Stone books, this is a lively accountin short chaptersof the efforts of a retired imaginary friend, O'Diddy, to get the child he played with to remember he existed. O'Diddy loves Boon, but when she goes to school and meets new children, she forgets all about her imaginary friend. O'Diddy knows that children outgrow imaginary friends; it is being forgotten that he can't stand. When Boon gets in a tight spot with her other friends, O'Diddy rescues her and earns a permanent place in her heart. Truesdell brings an exhilarating comic sensibility to the tale; Stevenson's witty tellingall from O'Diddy's point of viewmakes a strong case for keeping good friends, imagined or not. Ages 7-9.
