Reviews

Grade 3-7 A most engaging book about the weather. In his usual readable style, Branley intersperses factual information about clouds, precipitation, and winds with interesting anecdotes and easy experiments. The amusing black-and-gray wash illustrations are helpful in setting up the experiments. Included are tidbits about pink and green snow and a formula for computing the number of snowflakes in a snowstorm. This is an excellent addition to the weather book collection in any library. It is comparable to Nature ' s Weather Forecasters (Lodestar, 1978) by Helen Sattler and Understanding Weather (Macmillan, 1970; o.p.) by Harry Milgrom, and, for older readers, Weather Facts & Feats (Guinness, 1977; o.p.) by Ingrid Holford.
