Synopsis
In this phrase book for travel in the German-speaking countries, features have been incorporated that will make it convenient and easy for you to use in actual situations. Every phrase and word is translated into proper German and then respelled to guide you in its pronunciation. The book is also "programmed" to help you with two of the basic problems of the novice in a language - an inability to comprehend the spoken word and a certain hesitancy in speaking out. To solve the first problem, questions have been avoided, to the extent possible, in the phrases presented. In regard to the issue of hesitancy, the contents of the book have been arranged so that a minimal command of basic phrases, salutations, weather, numbers, time, statements of need and desire, may be acquired in the first sections. And, to aid you in finding a phrase that you wish to use, the Dictionary has been partially indexed. The Dictionary itself is comprehensive enough so that you should not lack for words.
