Synopsis
This introduction to Scots law takes account of legislative changes the Requirements of Writing (Scotland) Act 1995; the Contract (Scotland) Act 1997; the Children (Scotland) Act 1995; the Scotland Act 1998; the Competition Act 1998 and Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. Important cases include Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York versus Lothian Regional Council 1995 and Smith versus Bank of Scotland 1997. The title also takes account of family mediation, amounts for prior rights and administration of estates, and the potential law reform by the Scottish Parliament, including the abolition of the feudal system and reform of the law of tenement.
