About the Author

Lester H. Hunt is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin.

Review

Hunt has written an important (and delightfully engaging) book that exemplifies a way of reading Nietzsche that is all too rare. Not content merely to restate Nietzsche, Hunt interacts with Nietzsche's ideas, utilizing the ones he agrees with to overcome the problems that he sees in some of the others. In particular, Hunt's blueprint for a Nietzschean liberalism is suggestive, and a a challenge to other readers of Nietzsche to extend and revise his thought in new directions.
The Philosophical Review

Hunt's study . . . contributes to the aim of this series to publish sympathetic treatments of Nietzsche that also address the concerns of `analytic' philosophers . . . . He works out the interesting arguments that underlie Nietzsche's important enigmatic statements, and he justifies his reconstructions with a close reading of relevant texts . . . Highly recommended.
