About the Author
David Phillips is lecturer in educational studies and tutor in German at the Department of Educational Studies, University of Oxford and a Fellow of St. Edmund Hall. Caroline Filmer-Sankey, an experienced teacher of modern languages in comprehensive schools, is currently research officer for the Oxford Project on Diversification of First Foreign Language Teaching (OXPROD).

This is a thoroughly informative and readable book, in spite of the descriptions of agencies unfamiliar to Americans...the issues addressed will find resonance with any curriculum specialist faced with issues of content choice in a secondary school program.
