This study gives an overview of the physical and environmental geography of Saudi Arabia. It presents research and information that has previously been difficult to obtain. An introduction to Saudi Arabia, its history, physical and human geography is given. The book then goes on to examine the climatic environment, the geomorphology of the shield and of the Arabian platform, coastal environments, hydrogeology and hydrology, weathering and soils, flora and fauna, environmental hazards and environmental awareness and policy.

Dr Peter Vincent has spent the last thirty years teaching Physical Geography at Lancaster University, UK. Since 1983 he has visited Saudi Arabia more or less on an annual basis and, in close collaboration with the Saudi Geological Survey, has visited all parts of the Kingdom. He has a particular interest in arid zone geomorphology.
