The classroom is one of the few places where pupils are regularly required to share, wait, take turns, compromise and work in pairs or groups. Explicit instruction, modelling, feedback, intervention and strategic task selection are all described in detail and supported by examples.
The book also suggests ways to organise the classroom, provides teaching strategies and pupil activities and gives notes on assessment and record-keeping. It is complemented by several pages of proformas, which can be copied or amended for use in the classroom.

About the Author:
Kath Murdoch is an experienced primary teacher and author of several books for children and teachers. She is currently lecturing in the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne, working extensively in schools designing and implementing a range of professional development programs for teachers, and is involved in researching teacher learning in relation to integrated curriculum.
Jeni Wilson lectures at the University of Melbourne's Institute of Education in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning. She has a special interest in children's thinking and in assessment.

I think the series is great. I really enjoyed reading them through. I particularly like ‘Thinking’ and ‘Questioning’ (both brilliant texts). I think they will be a great series.
